WHY MICROSOFT + NOKIA WILL BEAT APPLE AND SAMSUNG

The tech world is buzzing with the news that Microsoft has bought Nokia's handset business, and no one will be buzzing louder than Apple and Samsung, as they watch anxiously to see whether this new hybrid entity will cut into their market share.

We think they might. Here are 6 things we might see from the partnership:

1. X-Box with the strength of Nokia 1100: The X-Box is the dominant video game console today. But, if you've ever owned one, you will know that it is fragile - kids who vent their frustration at losing on their gaming console can soon find themselves owners of an ex-box, rather than an X-Box. So we need it to gain strength and durability, and it can tap into the design specs for the Nokia 1100 which, as we all know, can survive a nuclear holocaust.

2. Nokia phones that are actually modern: Nokia phones seem to exist in a strange parallel universe of their own that is 5 years behind the cutting edge of the industry - Samsung and Apple. In their bubble, they are probably good phones, but we have a feeling that Microsoft will give Nokia the killer instinct.

3. Microsoft softwares at Nokia prices: If you're one of those people who buys original Windows versions and upgrades, then you probably find yourself paying a lot, especially in this age of the dying rupee. So if Nokia is able to influence Microsoft to price its software like Nokia prices its dabbas, we all win.

4. Nokia fighting like Microsoft: Microsoft has been written off as an old, degenerate company time and again, and it has always come back and shocked its critics. If Nokia is a cat, Microsoft is a tiger; maybe it can help Nokia forget its domestic ways and become a true creature of the wild.

5. Nokia phones with a real OS: The Nokia OS often feels like it was designed by a set of monkeys who were given computers and unlimited drugs for a month. It hangs, slows down, and irritates. But the Windows OS has got better and better, and more and more mobile-friendly, every year.

6. No ego clashes: The main reason Nokia and Microsoft might be able to work together to take down the giants, Apple and Samsung, is that they will be united, while Apple and Samsung never can be. After all, neither Nokia or Microsoft sued the other for a billion dollars.
